Meet Indonesian illustrator based in Singapore, Stephanie Priscilla.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hi, I’m Stephanie. I’m an Indonesian illustrator based in Singapore.

Describe the city you’re living in and what it’s like to live there.

Singapore is a very fast moving country. It’s hard to do a slow life here but despite all that, I get quite comfortable here easily.

What is the best and worst thing about living in your city?
The best thing about living here would be the transportation. It’s easy to go anywhere but I guess I wish there are more beaches and mountains here.

Give us 3 words that describe what it’s like to be a creative in your city.

Vibrant, Clear, Alive

How did you start your career in art?

I started taking animation at an art college in Singapore and after I graduated I worked at a motion graphic company as their illustrator up until now. Besides doing that, I still love making personal artworks to wind down and develop them into merchandise.

Were the people around you supportive of your decision on working as a creative?

Yes, my family are all very supportive. It’s kinda cute actually. I am very grateful especially to my husband too. He is always there in every step that I take.

What are some goals and ambitions you have for your future work?

To have both physical and online store for my merchandise.

If you could collaborate with any person in the world who would it be?

Definitely Hayao Miyazaki or Satoshi Kon.

How would you describe the women around you?

Beautiful, loving, and sensitive (not in a bad way)

Were there any local female creatives that you looked up to when you were growing up?

I grew up in Indonesia and I moved here to study college so I am not really aware of any Singaporean female creatives but other than that I really love Lang Leav‘s creation.

Are there any challenging aspects of being a female in your industry?

At this moment no. I think where I am now I see they respect both female and male creatives quite equally.

Express how you feel with honesty. We are all human we have variations of feelings and thoughts and it’s all beautiful.

Do you have any advice to young women who are aspiring to work in your field?
