Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am an animation filmmaker. I am also an artist who likes to do illustration and painting. I am originally from China, and currently living in LA. My focus is 2D animation and animated documentary.

 

Describe the city you’re living in and what it’s like to live there.

LA is a fun city! I love my art friends and nature.

What is the best and worst thing about living in your city?

I don’t like driving that much.

 

Give us 3 words that describe what it’s like to be a creative in your city.

Encouraging, exciting, inspiring.

 

How did you start your career in art?

I was majoring in Animation for my undergrad.

 

Were the people around you supportive of your decision on working as a creative?

Sometimes. My family is pretty supportive but they don’t really understand what I do. My friends are very supportive.

 

I want to make as much animated films as possible. My goals and ambitions are having the endurance to keep producing work.

What are the biggest challenges you face in working as a creative?

Rent.

Were there any local female creatives that you looked up to when you were growing up?

My art teachers in my art school influenced my early critical thinking.

What type of music do you like to listen to?

All types. Recently a lot of world music.

 

What’s your favorite local food spot?

Home cooked.

I have a hard time sticking with one style and I like experimenting.

My favorite process is no process. Improvisation is the instinctual expression.
