Meet New York-based illustrator and product designer, eve liu

GirlsclubAsia-Artist-Eve_Liu

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hi, I’m eve, a lifestyle illustrator and product designer with dreams of becoming a dog groomer. Recently, I’m experimenting with animated artworks and background design.

Describe the city you’re living in and what it’s like to live there.

New York is like a condensed version of Global Village to me. I even like the less “perfect” and chaotic places here. The recent #stopasianhate movement made me understand why this city is the center of an immigrant country, which is one of the reasons I like New York.

What is the best and worst thing about living in your city?

Best Thing: I can taste a lot of food made by immigrants from different countries

Worst Thing: Winter is hard to stand…

Give us 3 words that describe what it’s like to be a creative in your city.

Sleep, despair, dusk

How did you start your career in art?

It started naturally since art is what I spend the most time on. Gradually I wanted to make it a career that will accompany my life.

Were there any local female creatives that you looked up to when you were growing up?

I didn’t have such a role model in my hometown, but when I was a child I read Hamino Chika’s manga and yearned for her creative state.

How does your cultural heritage/background/environment affect and in form your creativity?
